Antivirus 2009--A Bad Program Any Way You Say It
Topic: Antivirus 2009

Antivirus 2009.  Power Antivirus 2009.  Smart Antivirus 2009.  Micro Antivirus 2009.  Do you have one of these programs on your computer?

If you do, then you'd better delete it as soon as you possibly can!  Despite the name, what you have is a malicious piece of software that will try and get you to buy its fake, “registered” version.

You have probably seen a fake security check that tries to convince you of this.  Other problems will soon follow.  You screen's background or screensaver may change, with no way to change it back.  Even worse, your access to “Control Panel” and “My Documents” may be cut-off, in an attempt to convince you of the seriousness of these threats!

If you have a program with any of the names above, get some real security software and make use of it ASAP!

Antivirus 2009 Symptoms
Topic: Antivirus 2009

Antivirus 2009 claims to take care of viruses. In actuality, it is a kind of virus itself, a Trojan horse that poses as antivirus software. Here are some things you can expect if you've got it on you computer.

Pop-ups that say your computer is infected, usually followed-up by a "click here to upgrade to remove" or "click here to remove", then with a certain virus or Trojan listed.

List of several viruses, often in the dozens, that your other antivirus software simply doesn't show.

"Windows Security Center" that pops up after you start your computer. It then tells you that you need to upgrade to XP Antivirus 2009. Don't believe it for a second!

Buying the "upgraded" version will only stop any symptoms for a brief time. Within a few days, you may see other symptoms, as well as pop-ups for other paid software. You're better off with Spyzooka, or something--anything!--besides Antivirus 2009!
